My Husband, Steve Ciaccio
& I have been making Wooden Toys for
nearly 30 years. We first started by
making a Rocking Horse and a few Wooden
Wheeled Toys for our son and in 1976 we
founded The Cubbyhole. Thirty years
later, our son is now married and has a
career as a Fireman.
We
exhibited at our first of many Arts &
Crafts Show in 1977 and quickly gained
notoriety. We decided to make it a point
of exhibiting at all of the Craft Shows
within a surrounding five state area.
Steve & I attended the shows for many
years and enjoyed all of the traveling
and meeting new people and clients.
However, it became harder for us to find
the time to raise 3 children, travel to
shows and get all of the toys made in a
timely fashion as well, so we decided to
give up the Craft Shows.
The
Cubbyhole opened a small Retail Store in
town with its Work Shop located in the
basement in 1982 and we were able to get
Steve's Mom to run the store for us and
she did so for close to 20 years. The
Cubbyhole is a Family Owned and Operated
Business and over the years, at one time
or another, we have had many of our
family and friends working here at The
Cubbyhole, including our son, daughters,
nephews and both of our parents.
Currently our youngest daughter is one
of The Cubbyholes Main Cutters in the
Work Shop.
The
Cubbyholes business continued to grow,
but the space needed to keep up with the
demand unfortunately did not, so Steve &
I decide to close the Retail Store and
concentrate marketing efforts towards
Direct Mail and Internet Sales. Our
current Work Shop location conveniently
allows for the companies Personalized
Wooden Stools, Puzzles and Coat Racks
to be shipped to retail stores across
the country. The Cubbyhole even ships
to a store in England and has many
On-Line Internet Stores who also sell
our items. Additionally, The Cubbyhole
can also be found in a number of
Nationwide Catalogs.
The
Cubbyhole uses only Safe, “Lead Free”,
Non Toxic Paints and Sealers on its Toys
and takes Great Pride in making a Safe
and Fun Educational Product for your
child to enjoy for many years.
